Living Room Update: Boho, Natural Style

Today I’m bringing you our living room makeover. Our living room is really large and somewhat awkward space. Originally, it was a garage and the previous owners transformed it into a living room with tall ceilings. I was always so torn on how to decorate the larger wall. Originally, it had a cube shelf and I never felt like it fit quite right. Adding in this open shelf and and two chairs totally made the space come together.

The Chairs that Started it All

When I stumbled upon these chairs on Target I fell in love! I knew I had to have them in my home, but I wasn’t quite sure where. After racking my brain for a few days I came up with a design plan that would both: solve the space issue in my large living room and get me my dream chairs. The chairs are reasonably priced, high quality, comfortable and come in four different colors. Another great way to style these chairs would be in a corner of a room. They would create a perfect little reading nook. My son loves cozying up on the chair and gaming. These chairs have been aesthetically pleasing and functional for our home.

Accent Pieces

I also wanted to switch up the vibe in this space. Phase the farmhouse out and add in a fresh, boho, modern style. One of the easiest ways to change a space is with throw pillows and small accent pieces. I switched out my white antique farmhouse end table for a warm wood and marble table. At first my plan was to get rid of the cube shelf but I actually love the way it fits underneath our bay window. I would still like to change up some of the decor on the shelves but for now it works. Textured throws, pillows and baskets are another way I add a boho vibe to my living room. My goal for the living room was to utilize the space better, have a little less farmhouse style and more boho, natural vibes.

Warm Natural Colors

One of the main ways I changed this space is by adding warmth. I did this with wood tones, orange throw pillows, plants and terra cotta planters. I have been obsessed with terra cotta for decor, is that weird haha!? White braided, woven and textured baskets were another finishing touch for the living room. I wanted the space to feel natural, cozy and tasteful.
