Holiday Home Tour

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Casa de Cargill! I am so excited to bring you my holiday home tour. Decorating seasonally is one of my favorite things to do. It’s even rubbed off on my son and he loves decorating throughout our home too. I love the excitement it brings to the whole family for the holidays. I’m going to share the bits and pieces of Christmas we have sprinkled throughout out home and some tips for incorporating seasonal decor into your home too!

Our three tiered tray is one of my favorite spots to decorate. A tip I have for decorating a three tired tray is to use practical items. For example, in here I have paper straws, whisks, gift tags and ribbon. These are all random items we’ll use all season long. Mugs, copper cups, candles, and sprinkles are other great items to add to your three tiered tray. Target Dollar Spot and Home Goods are my favorite spots to find little items for my three tiered tray.

Christmas kitchen decor

Our new open shelves in the kitchen are another spot I love to decorate. When putting together any sort of open shelf decor think about height and dimension. I almost think of it as layers of decorating. So start from the back or bottom and work forward and up. For example, on the bottom shelf I started with the Gingerbread sign and mini cake stands and worked from there. I try and keep the items on these shelves somewhat practical. kitchen towels, cook books, bowls/plates and measuring cups are all items I reach for frequently. Would y’all like to see a post on tips for decorating open shelves!?

Family Room + Christmas Tree

I absolutely love the way our Christmas tree turned out this year and my holiday home tour wouldn’t be complete with out it ! If you’re looking for inspo on Christmas tree decorating make sure you check out my Decorate Your Christmas Tree in Five Easy Steps post. I added in a pop of buffalo plaid but I wanted to keep it tasteful and not over done. Christmas isn’t Christmas with out red so I also added in a pop of red. Our tree basket is my favorite addition this year and such a great price too.

Playroom Christmas Decor

Our playroom has to be my second favorite place to decorate. There’s something about making kids spaces festive that brings me so much joy. Our play kitchen gets so much use and switching it up for the holidays makes it fun for the kiddos too, it also makes the play kitchen feel new again and they like to play with it even more after its freshly decorated. Any guesses on how long the playroom actually looks like this? Over, under five minutes!? Ha!

The Kids Rooms

I kept the decor pretty simple in the girls rooms this year. But, when I saw these beautiful Christmas Houses by Lauren Conrad I knew I had to have them. I think they will make great heirlooms for them to give to their kiddos, I’m super sentimental guys. Also, the detail on them is so intricate and gorgeous. They are around $20 a piece depending on the current promotion Kohl’s is running, but I thought they were well worth it. I styled them with the small wooden houses and bottle brush trees from Target dollar section. Cece’s tree was a score from Big Lots, it is a pink flocked tree, absolutely beautiful. I kinda wish I could decorate my entire house in pretty Christmas pastels. Vinny’s room has the Beddy’s buffalo check bedding which makes it so easy to get the festive feel in there. His tree was also a Big Lots find for only $20!

Entryway

Our entryway is pretty small so I wanted to keep the decor simple. I added in this sign from Walmart and a couple mini trees from Target. I think it was just enough to make the space feel Christmas-y but not over done.
