If you love a good before and after photo, keep reading! I have been begging my husband for a white kitchen cabinet makeover for years and he finally agreed to it. I’m really proud to share that I saved money for the project with my blogging income. When I first started the blog, it was a goal of mine to be able to pay for that home improvement. So, I’m so excited I was able to.
The original kitchen
The cabinets, counters and backsplash were all so dark. I knew I wanted to brighten up the space somehow. After going back and forth between updating the back splash to brighten it up or paint the cabinets we decided on painting the cabinets. We hired a local painter, who also happens to be one of our good friends Mom’s. If you’re local and looking for someone, let me know and I can give you her contact info. The whole project took her a week. She painted the cabinet boxes and took the fronts/doors off and had them sprayed. The color is: Sherwin Williams/ High Reflective White. The wall color is: Behr Silver Tradition. That’s also the color you see throughout our entire home.
Before // After
Can you even believe the difference? How much bigger, brighter and cleaner the space looks!? I joke it went from “grandma’s kitchen” to an updated kitchen! I am so happy with the results and finally feel that my kitchen blends with the rest of my home. I really believe the kitchen is the heart of the home and it should be a place you love.

Open Shelving
I really wanted open shelving. My husband didn’t want us to actually remove any cabinets so I came up with the perfect solution: remove the door fronts and paint the entire box, including the interior shelves. I love having an extra spot to decorate and put useful items in too. Towels, plates, bowls and extra candles are all easily accessible.

This is absolutely beautiful. I’m getting ready to do mine. I’m so excited you gave the paint colors. Can you tell me what type of paint? Is it oil based or water based? Did you prime it first? Those details would be great to know
